Every body
know Krishna is the most powerful incarnation of Vishnu. Krishna is
the The supreme god of goddess and upcoming 10th Aug is
the birth day of lord Krishna. In India every body celebrate the
birth of lord Krishna, birth of Krishna known as a Janmashtami. All
the Vishnu avatars he is the most popular, and perhaps of all Hindu
gods the one closest to the heart of the masses.
Krishna Janmashtami is observed on the Ashtami tithi, the eighth day of the
dark half or Krishna Paksha of the month of Bhadra in the Hindu
calendar, when the Rohini Nakshatra is ascendant. The festival always
falls within mid-August to mid-September in the Gregorian calendar.
In 2012 the festival will celebrated on 10th Aug. Krishna
was dark and extremely handsome. The word Krishna literally means
'black', and black also connotes mysteriousness.
Few years
later, while boy Krishna is playing by river Yamuna with his friends,
their ball falls into the river. All know that the river is home to
dreaded multi-headed snake, Kaliya.
Nobody wants to come anywhere
close to the river. It’s then that Boy Krishna plunges into the
water. As the other boys await his return which incidentally takes
time, they get worried. But before they can actually rush back home
to fetch the elders of the village, Krishna appears from the waters,
though dancing on the head of Kaliya, having vanquished him! This is
how Lord Krishna describes God in the Holy Gita. And to most Hindus
he is the God himself, the Supreme Being or the Purna Purushotam.
This
weekend is the birthday of Lord Krishna. All around the world,
Krishna devotees will be celebrating this auspicious event with great
joy, by hearing about the pastimes of Krishna, singing bhajan to Him,
Chanting hare Krishna name and making a big feast for Him. Just as
you would cook some delicious dishes for your loved one’s birthday,
it is also nice to go out of your way to cook some special dishes
for Krishna on the occasion of his birth.
GOPALKALA
is the very famous food in Janmashtami. Every person try to get this
Gopalkala. When Krishna used to go to forest behind cows with his
friends then they mix all friends food in a single dish. That is why
today also all people bring some food in temple and mix it in the
occasion of Janmashtami, that food call it as Gopalkala.
Ingredients
we use to prepare Gopalkala is Beaten Rice, Coconut (fresh),
Cucumber, Green chillies, Ghee, Jeera, Ginger, Curd, Sugar, Salt to
taste. Soak beaten rice for 10 minutes. Grate the coconut, roughly
chop the cucumber & finely chop the green chillies and ginger.
Melt ghee in a small pan for the tempering, add the jeera, green
chillies and ginger. Pour over the Beaten Rice and add in the
remaining ingredients. Mix well all the ingredients.
You can
prepare by mixing any veg dishes to create your own special feast.
The idea is to make an extra effort to cook something fancy for our
dear Lord Krishna. Here are some dishes you can prepare it for
Janmashtami. Shrikhand, Milk roti, Pedha, Makhan ka samosa, Singhare
ki puri, Kalakand, Aloo/Arvi ki Chaat, Til ki Kheer (Sesame Pudding).
Some restaurants in Bangalore also preparing special dishes
for Janmashtami. Cause they know people whom don't have time to
prepare dishes they buy and gift to Krishna.
As I
mentioned this is just a suggested menu which you could tweak in any
way you like. If you don’t have much time, simply make one
vegetable dish, one sweet and skip other. I do however think that if
you like to cook it is nice to spend some time in the kitchen for
Krishna on His birthday. May you all have a joyful Janmashtami
celebration filled with remembering our dear most friend Krishna. In
Bangalore Iskcon temple is very famous for celebrating
Janmashtami. You should go there for celebrating Janmashtami.
For
generations, Krishna has been an enigma to some, but God to millions,
who go ecstatic even as they hear his name. People consider Krishna
their leader, hero, protector, philosopher, teacher and friend all
rolled into one. Krishna has influenced the Indian thought, life and
culture in myriad ways. He has influenced not only its religion and
philosophy, but also into its mysticism and literature, painting and
sculpture, dance and music, and all aspects of Indian folklore. Lord
Krishna said healthy and tasty food is the first priority of
human body and that is why he apposed to sending the makhan in
Mathura.
Krishna is
the embodiment of his own teachings, and the Bhagavad Gita is his
greatest message and mission to deliver us the knowledge that we all
strive to seek. "In the Gita we hear the distant sound of the
conflict of sects, and Lord Krishna comes in the middle to harmonize
them all; He, the great teacher of harmony, Lord Krishna," said
Swami Vivekananda, "The glory of Sri Krishna is that He has been
the best preacher of our eternal religion and the best commentator on
the Vedanta that ever lived in India." As Krishna himself said:
"In Me they are all strung like pearls upon a thread."
Rasa lila,
dramatic enactments of the life of Krishna, are a special feature in
regions of Mathura and Vrindavan, and regions following Vaishnavism
in Manipur. While the Rasa lila re-creates the flirtatious aspects of
Krishna's youthful days
The Dahi Handi celebrate God's playful and
mischievous side, where teams of young men form human pyramids to
reach a high-hanging pot of butter and break it. This tradition, also
known as uriadi, is a major event in Tamil Nadu on Gokulashtami.
All sorrows
are destroyed upon attainment of tranquillity. The intellect of such
a tranquil person soon becomes completely steady and united with the
Supreme. There is neither Self-knowledge, nor Self-perception to
those who are not united with the Supreme. Without Self-perception
there is no peace, and without peace there can be no happiness.
Because the mind, when controlled by the roving senses, steals away
the intellect as a storm takes away a boat on the sea from its
destination the spiritual shore of peace and happiness. Therefore,
one’s intellect becomes steady whose senses are completely
withdrawn from the sense objects.
Lord
Krishna Said:
Whatever
Belongs To You Today, Belonged To Someone Else Yesterday And It Will
Belong To Some One Else Tomorrow. Don’t be illusioned By Maya. Maya
Is The Root Cause Of All Pain And Misery.
Happy
Janmashtami…!
Nand ke Anand Bhayo Jay kanhaiya lal ki, Hathi Ghoda pal ki Jay Kanhaiya lal ki.
Just Chant Hare Krishna and live your life peacefully.
